As a passionate community advocate and always ready for a challenge, Donna sought to help out local charities and raise awareness about the service men that fought at Kokoda during WWII.
Known for its grueling but beautiful track, Kokoda has been a point for pilgrims that want to honour the memory of those that fought there during the second world war.
The track is 135 kms from Kokoda to Owers Corner and the challenge covered 8114 metres, descended 7861 km, with a total of 251,000 steps.
Donna self funded her trip as well as raising over $3000 for local charities.
The trek was physically and mentally exhausting, with Donna finding out 9 months later that she would have had bowel cancer at the time, including a tumor that she underwent surgery to remove in 2014.
