An elected Liberal government will save households in Quiet Lakes $118 a year by covering the costs to flush the lakes with bore water.
The Shadow Minister for Water Steph Ryan joined Liberal Candidate for Carrum Donna Bauer to make the announcement.
The commitment will remove the controversial bore flushing tariff applied by Melbourne Water in 2017.
Under the Andrews Government, residents around Lake Legana and Lake Illawong have been forced to pay $118 per household to run a bore to reduce algae in the lake.
Comment attributed to Liberal Candidate for Carrum Donna Bauer
The Quiet Lakes play an important role in drainage and flood mitigation to protect the region from flooding.
We will remove this charge on residents by requiring Melbourne Water to cover the costs of running the bore to maintain water quality in the lakes.
I will also force Melbourne Water back to the table to engage in a constructive discussion with local residents.

Donna has been a relentless advocate for removing this charge imposed by the Andrews Labor Government on residents.
As the former Member for Carrum, she was dogged in making Melbourne Water address water quality issues of the Quiet Lakes.
Labor has ignored the concerns of local residents. Only a Liberal Nationals Government will remove this charge.
